Scrap Car Collection in Birmingham: What to Expect
Need to scrap your car in Birmingham? Here is exactly what happens from your first call to cash in hand — no surprises.
If you have a car sitting on your driveway that you no longer want, scrapping it is one of the quickest ways to turn it into cash. Birmingham is one of the busiest areas we cover, and we collect vehicles from every part of the city — from Erdington and Sutton Coldfield in the north to Kings Heath and Stirchley in the south.
Here is exactly what the process looks like from start to finish.
Step 1: Get a Quote Over the Phone
The fastest way to get a price is to call us on 0121 389 4250. We will ask you a few quick questions:
- The make, model, and year of the car
- Its current condition (does it start? any accident damage?)
- Your postcode
Based on that, we give you a firm quote on the spot. No waiting around for a callback, no vague estimates.
Scrap prices are based on the weight of the vehicle and the current price of scrap metal, so a larger car like an estate or 4x4 will generally fetch more than a small hatchback. We will always give you an honest figure.
Step 2: Book a Collection Time That Suits You
Once you are happy with the quote, we arrange a collection time that works for you. We cover Birmingham seven days a week and can often collect the same day or next day, depending on your location and our schedule.
We collect from:
- Private driveways and residential streets
- Car parks (with permission from the landowner)
- Garages and storage units
If the car is not on a public road, just let us know when you book and we will make sure the right vehicle comes out to you.
Step 3: Prepare Your Paperwork
Before we arrive, it is worth getting your documents together. You will need:
- V5C logbook (log book) — this is the most important document. It proves you are the registered keeper and allows us to notify the DVLA that the vehicle has been scrapped.
- Photo ID — a driving licence or passport.
If you have lost your V5C, you can still scrap the car in many cases. Call us and we will talk you through the options. Do not let missing paperwork put you off getting in touch.
Step 4: We Collect — You Get Paid
On the day of collection, our driver will arrive at the agreed time, inspect the vehicle briefly to confirm it matches what was described, and then pay you in cash on the spot.
The whole process from arrival to departure usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes. There is nothing for you to do except hand over the keys and the V5C.
We will complete the relevant section of the V5C and send it to the DVLA to notify them the car has been scrapped. You keep the yellow slip (section 9) as your own record.
What Happens to the Car After Collection?
Once we take the vehicle back to our site in Darlaston, it goes through our authorised treatment facility (ATF) process. Fluids are drained and disposed of safely, usable parts are removed and made available as recycled salvage parts, and the remaining shell is crushed and sent for metal recycling.
This means your car is disposed of legally and in an environmentally responsible way. You will receive a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) which confirms the vehicle has been officially scrapped and removes your liability as the registered keeper.
Areas of Birmingham We Cover

- Moseley, Kings Heath, and Stirchley
- Selly Oak, Harborne, and Edgbaston

How Much Will I Get for My Scrap Car in Birmingham?
Scrap prices change week to week based on the metal market. As a rough guide, most standard family cars in scrap condition fetch between £150 and £400. Larger vehicles, vans, and 4x4s can fetch more.
The best way to get an accurate figure is to call us directly. We do not use online calculators that give you an inflated price and then reduce it on collection — the price we quote is the price we pay.
